CREDNCE IN ACTION / Coffee exports

The Coffee
Trust Gap.

The full order funded. Payment released by milestone.

A coffee exporter should not have to ship a full order against a promise to pay the balance. On Crednce, the buyer funds and locks the entire US$250,000 first. The exporter earns releases as agreed milestones are completed and approved.

AGREEMENT / EVIDENCE / DECISIONCrednce in action

01 / The order

One order creates a gap. Ten orders multiply it.

Outside Crednce, a buyer offers 40% upfront and 60% on arrival for a US$250,000 coffee order. That leaves US$150,000 dependent on a payment the exporter has not yet received.

With ten similar orders, the exporter faces US$2.5 million in orders and US$1.5 million in promised balances while arranging processing and shipment. This is the trust gap Crednce replaces not a funding option it supports.

A promise to pay later is not enough to start a Crednce deal.

What happens across ten similar orders?

Ten orders of US$250,000 total US$2,500,000. A 40% initial payment totals US$1,000,000; US$1,500,000 remains unfunded.

These figures describe contract value and promised balances, not measured production costs or a calculation of the exporter’s borrowing needs. They illustrate why the exporter cannot rely on later deposits.

02 / The funding

Fund the whole order. Not a promise to finish paying.

On Crednce, the buyer and exporter first agree the coffee specification, milestones and required proof. The buyer then funds and locks the full US$250,000 before execution begins.

The exporter can see that the entire agreed order is funded. The buyer has not handed the entire amount to the exporter: it stays locked, with releases tied to completed and approved milestones.

Full funding comes first. Milestone completion controls release.

Milestone 1: the agreed coffee-processing stage is completed, the lot is identified and the required evidence is approved — US$50,000 released.

Milestone 2: packing and the agreed pre-shipment inspection requirements are completed and approved — US$125,000 released.

Milestone 3: arrival, quantity and the agreed acceptance requirements are completed and approved — US$75,000 released.

US$50,000 + US$125,000 + US$75,000 = US$250,000. This 20% / 50% / 30% split is an illustrative release plan, not a standard fee or a staged-deposit option. All three allocations are funded before work begins.

03 / The evidence

Progress earns a release. A promise does not.

After the processing milestone is completed and approved, US$50,000 is released in this example. The remaining US$200,000 stays locked for the later milestones.

The exporter then submits the identified lot, packing records and agreed pre-shipment inspection evidence. Approval of this completed milestone releases US$125,000; US$75,000 stays locked for arrival. A quality mismatch must be addressed, not ignored because a shipment is ready.

Each release comes from funds already locked not a new request to the buyer.

PRE-SHIPMENT REVIEW

Illustrative

The agreed coffee lot

Pre-shipment review pending

Lot and specification

Connect the inspection and supporting records to the actual lot identified in the order. Review the criteria the parties agreed, rather than a generic photograph of coffee.

Inspection and exceptions

The agreed reviewer checks the relevant lot and records any mismatch against the specification. The pre-shipment allocation is not released just because the exporter requests it. Professional availability, scope and cost are arranged for the deal; this page does not provide a certificate.

Shipment records

Connect the shipping documents to this order. They support the shipment stage, but do not replace the later arrival and acceptance checks. The final US$75,000 is already funded and remains locked for that milestone.

Illustrative evidence requirements. No real trade documents are attached.

A mismatch keeps the affected release pending review or resolution.

04 / The arrival

The coffee arrives. The balance is already there.

The buyer reviews the received coffee against the agreed quantity, condition and acceptance requirements. The final US$75,000 has been locked since the deal began; there is no new balance to collect from the buyer.

Once the arrival milestone is completed and approved, its allocation is released through the payment-partner process. A discrepancy goes through the agreed review or resolution process instead of an automatic payout.

Arrival triggers a review for release not a request for fresh funding.

What if the shipment does not match?

Record the issue and evidence against the arrival milestone. Its unresolved allocation is not released merely because the vessel arrived; it remains subject to the agreed review or resolution process.

Once the required outcome is approved, record the release and partner settlement separately. Earlier completed-milestone payments are not automatically reversed by a later issue.

FULLY FUNDED. RELEASED BY MILESTONE.

A funded commitment. Not a balance to chase.

The exporter does not ship against an unfunded promise. The buyer does not release the entire payment before performance. Both work from one fully funded agreement, with proof and approval attached to every milestone release.

What does full funding protect—and what does it not?

It removes reliance on the buyer making another deposit for the original agreed scope. It does not make delivery, evidence or disputes risk-free, and it does not mean the exporter receives all the money immediately.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

A few practical
questions.

The example is a starting point. The actual agreement needs to fit your deal.

Can the buyer deposit 40% and add 60% on arrival?

No. Crednce requires the full agreed order amount to be funded and locked before work begins. For this example, that means US$250,000 not US$100,000 and a promise to fund the balance later. Percentages may describe releases after milestone completion, not delayed client funding.

Does Crednce finance the exporter’s production?

No financing is represented here. The buyer supplies the full order funding. The exporter receives releases only after the relevant milestones are completed and approved, so costs incurred before the first releasable milestone still need to be planned for.

Can every corridor or commodity transaction use this workflow?

Confirm the transaction, counterparties, supported corridor, currencies, fees and verification services before committing. Where this workflow is supported, full funding before execution remains the requirement.

Crednce requires the full agreed deal amount to be funded and locked before execution. Releases follow completed milestones and the agreed approval or resolution process. Payment partners handle processing and settlement. Confirm supported workflows, locations, currencies, fees, verification services and applicable terms before committing funds.
